On May 19, 2026, students from groups OK-11A, OK-11Б, OK-11В, and TZh-11А of the Higher Multidisciplinary Civil Defense College took part in a historical lecture on the topic “The Chernobyl Disaster - The Scourge of the Century,” organized by the City Model Library at the Saltanat Palace.
The event was aimed at preserving the historical memory of the largest man-made disaster of the 20th century, fostering patriotism, environmental awareness, and respect for the heroic efforts of the liquidators of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant accident.
During the meeting, Chernobyl veteran Shalkarbek Kenzhebayuly Baudinov shared his memories of the selfless work of the liquidators, who risked their own lives to combat the effects of the devastating radiation. Participants were also shown a thematic video and given a tour of the book exhibition.
The students actively participated in the discussion, expressing the view that the memory of peacetime heroes must live on in the hearts of the younger generation, and that the Chernobyl tragedy should serve as an important lesson for all of humanity.
