On May 16, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev signed the decree “On Measures for the Development of Reading Culture and the Formation of a Reading Nation”. The President instructed that, by September 1, the republican project “10 Readers of the Year” be launched, and that by January 1, 2027, a National Digital Library Platform with unified access be established in Kazakhstan.
By the end of 2026, the Concept for the Promotion of Reading Culture and the Book Industry in the Context of Artificial Intelligence Development, titled “Reading Nation” for 2027-2031 (hereinafter referred to as the “Reading Nation” Concept), is to be approved.
By January 1, 2027, a draft of the new Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan “On Library and Publishing Activities” is to be developed.
By January 1, 2027, a National Award for achievements in the development of reading culture is to be established.
