The city of Taraz hosted Shotokan karate competitions for adults in the 21-39 age group, as well as the “Taraz Open” children’s tournament. Athletes from more than 15 regions of Kazakhstan took part in the event, with the total number of participants exceeding 200.
In the men’s “team kata” category (ages 21-39), students from the Higher Multidisciplinary Civil Defense College demonstrated a high level of training and won gold medals. The winners were Ruslan Nikolenko (FC-42A) and Vladislav Likhach (FC-32S), who represented their educational institution with distinction.
In addition, the athletes also achieved excellent results in the individual competitions: Ruslan Nikolenko took first place in the over-75-kg weight class, while Vladislav Likhach won the bronze medal, finishing third in the under-65-kg category.
Three college athletes were also awarded the honorary title of Master of Sports of International Class (MSIC): Vladislav Likhach (FC-32S), Ruslan Nikolenko (FC-42A), and Asanali Sutbaev (PB-42B).
