In November 2024, the city of Astana hosted a training seminar organised by the Centre for Ethnomediation of the Institute of Applied Ethnopolitical Studies. The event was commissioned by the Committee for the Development of Interethnic Relations of the Ministry of Culture and Information of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The aim of the seminar was to create a pool of field ethno-mediators capable of promptly identifying signs of inter-ethnic tensions, responding effectively to emerging situations and participating in dispute resolution. The participants were provided with basic knowledge of conflictology, negotiation and ethno-mediation, which was an important step in implementing the state ideology of ‘Law and Order’.
President of the Higher Multidisciplinary Civil Defence College Kassym Shokan Zhanatovich and Deputy Director for Educational Work Shaykhina Gulzhanar Zhaksylykovna took an active part in this event. For successful completion of the training they were awarded certificates confirming their competence in the field of ethno-mediation.
