From October 7 to 10, 2024, teachers and students of the Higher Multidisciplinary Civil Defence College assisted the Department of Emergency Situations of the Karaganda region in extinguishing a steppe fire.
Masters of industrial training Isakov Birzhan Zhetkirbayuly, Gabit Ansar Maratuly, as well as 2nd year students extinguished the fire: Arlanov Begarys and Yeset Alimzhan from the TJ-21C group, Lavrentiev Danil and Kazakstanov Ermurat from the PB-22C group.
This event was not only a test for young specialists, but also a clear example of how theoretical education and practice can unite in the name of saving nature and protecting the population.
The students underwent professional practice based on the training and fire-fighting and emergency-rescue unit of The HMCDC. Before going out to extinguish fires, they underwent intensive training: they learnt fire-fighting techniques and safety rules. They were provided with modern protection and firefighting equipment, which they familiarized themselves with in practice.
Such experience became an important stage in the training of future specialists. The students not only applied their knowledge in practice, but also learnt how to work in a team under stress and uncertainty. At the end of the extinguishment, they discussed their actions, identified mistakes and suggested ways to improve for future operations.
The trip to extinguish a steppe fire was an example of how the younger generation can make a meaningful contribution to fighting emergencies. This experience builds not only professional skills, but also fosters a sense of responsibility for the world around us.
